Spring Into Books

What an incredible experience. I believe I blogged last September about a “Local Authors and You” event where it rained the whole 4 hours of the event. There hadn’t been a lot of advertising and I’d say attendance hit the 30-40 person mark but due to layout issues, I saw about 6 come to my table. Very disappointing.

We just held the first annual “Spring Into Books” event sponsored by my League of Utah Writers chapter, the West Jordan Arts Council and the Salt Lake County Library System. A massive marketing campaign took place including a television interview. Wow.

The forecast predicted rain all day. I nearly cried that this would turn out like the previous event which was held at the same venue. The weather however, stayed cool and cloudy with no rain. Amazing! Our foot traffic count this time ranged between 800-1000 people. Tons of kids. Huge success. I even sold some books!

I can’t believe how much the success of this event helped renew my desire to write and be an author. These are the things that keep me going. They are doing “Local Authors and You” again this fall but having been shown the path to success by “Spring Into Books” I expect a much better experience in November.

This is the Novel Mage saying, *POOF*
