Dreaming in fire hydrant

Do you ever have those crazy dreams that don’t make any sense?  Ones that seem real but when you wake up, your first response is “What the?”  Me too.  But some of those produce great ideas for stories.  Lots of authors keep a notepad and writing device (pen, pencil, marker, quill and ink) next to their bed for those middle of the night or early morning dream jots.  Now it won’t always make sense. But not every dream needs to be a story.  You want to look for the gems.

When you are working feverishly on a novel some of those dreams may even be about your current story.  I find that when I am blocked or struggling through a scene, sometimes my subconscious reveals the answer in my dreams.  So never discount the world that haunts you while you sleep.

This is the Novel Mage saying, *POOF*
